back in the North with berries for scones !:)

August 9, 2010

I’m back in Tromsø, on campus and after this fantastic summer in our farm house, I simply have to get out in the mountains after work, since it is really getting you down to get inside after being outdoor more or less the whole time in the last 2 months ! and then I found blueberries and cloud berries and pick them into a small can in my overalls jacket ! and then back at home putting them into my homemade scones, umm ! simple life, but what a life ! feel it as big privilege to have such a good life, watching television seeing how awful people have it many places on our earth !

that’s good stuff! We just picked apples and pears and then made four batches of apple butter and pear butter. There is a certain satisfaction in living somewhat self sufficiently, isn’t there?

The best kind of berries are ones foraged from the woods and mountains! The life of a gatherer is the life of a treasure hunter, and the scones taste all the better for having treasure inside.
