Winter time – but also good food and opera

March 11, 2012

In her 50th post, congratulations !, Laury mentioned a novel by Clare Francis Wolf Winter, and that inspired me to this post, not so much about overalls !:) but more about winter and up here, we have still really winter, with a lot of snow without any problems actually. The roads are always open and the airport closes at most 2 days a year despite sometime 1 or 2 meter of snow at average ! It is somehow funny to read about big traffic problems in big cities when they get a few centimeters of snow ! Anyway, it is good to be inside and have a good meal, either nice breakfast with home made scones or a nice dinner with radio broadcast from the MET with “Don Juan” !

Very artistic snow…is it beginning to melt? The shape reminds me of that inflatable blue plastic stuff that they had on a tiny hot wine shed in Brunssum during the holidays! Off to fine tune the homework-Laury

I am really enjoying your blogs! I love the snow and so am a little sad this winter that we have not had much. However, it is fun to go out and work in the garden so early! I have read and seen that Europe is having a very “hard” winter. I hope all is well and the pictures are beautiful. It certainly is nice to hear about how you enjoy the snowy days with scones and opera 🙂

Thanks a lot Tammy, yes, snow like we have it now is really nice, really nice to walk to campus almost hearing the snow. I’m a bit envious on not having Spring yet since here we may not get Spring before some time in May or even June !! but we soon have day light all 24 hours so no complaints 🙂 will write a bit about all this in next posts.
